Tuesday, 24 October – the Constitutional Court of Moldova (CCM) became a beneficiary of assistance provided by the Government of Lithuania within a project intended to ensure the implementation and protection of the principles of the rule of law in the context of regional challenges. The project is to be implemented by November 2018.

The delegation of the Constitutional Court headed by the CCM President Mr Tudor Panțîru, takes part in the preparatory meeting of the Vilnius Forum – an activity carried out within the Project “Assistance to the Constitutional Courts of Georgia, the Republic of Moldova, and Ukraine in Ensuring the Implementation and Protection of the Principles of the Rule of Law in the Context of the Regional Challenges”.

The purpose of this project is, by offering experience gained by the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Lithuania, to strengthen the role of the constitutional justice institutions of the Eastern Partnership countries – Georgia, the Republic of Moldova, and Ukraine – in ensuring the implementation and protection of the principles of the rule of law.

As the Republic of Moldova is currently implementing important and complex reforms matching the course of European integration, the support offered within the framework of this Project is particularly necessary, especially by offering the opportunity to the partner constitutional courts to cooperate more actively in the area of the implementation and protection of the principles of the rule of law.

The Project launched today represents a continuity of activities initiated within the Cooperation Project „Assistance to the Constitutional Courts of Georgia, Republic of Moldova and Ukraine in ensuring the implementation and protection of the rule of law”, supported and funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania within the Development Cooperation and Democracy Promotion Programme, implemented by the Constitutional Court of Lithuania in 2016-2017.
