VLADIMIR ȚURCAN

Born on October 14^th 1954, graduated from the Law Faculty of “M. V. Lomonosov” State University in Moscow, Russian Federation (1976); graduated from the Politology and Social Administration Institute in Kiev, Ukraine (1985).

Member of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova in multiple legislatures (2001-2019), exercising the following duties: Deputy Chairman of the Legal Committee for appointments and immunities (2019), Chairman of the Committee for human rights and inter-ethnic relations (2014-2019); First Deputy Chairman of the Parliament (2009); Chairman of the Legal Committee for appointments and immunities (2005-2009); Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Moldova to Russian Federation; Nonresident Ambassador to the Republic of Kazakhstan, Finland, Armenia and Turkmenistan (2002-2005); Member of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova of the XV legislature (2001-2002); First Deputy Minister, Minister of Internal Affairs (1996-2001); Activity within the administrative organs of the M.S.S.R (1985-1991) and within the Office of the Prosecutor General of the M.S.S.R (1976-1985).

In 2008 was awarded the “Work Glory” (“Gloria Muncii”) Order.

Named judge of the Constitutional Court by the Decision of the Parliament Nr. 121 of 16.08.2019. Served as President of the Constitutional Court in the period of September 2019 - April 2020.
