The Constitutional Court of Moldova has elected its President

In the plenary session of the Constitutional Court of Moldova, held on 25 April 2023, Mr Nicolae Roșca has been elected as President of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Moldova (HCC no. AG-1 of 25 April 2023).

According to Article 136 para. (3) of the Constitution, the judges of the Constitutional Court elect their President by secret ballot.

Mr Nicolae Roșca was appointed as a judge to the Constitutional Court by the Governmental Decree no. 404/2019, exercising his functions after taking the oath on 16 August 2019. Mr Nicolae Roșca carried out his professional activity at the Faculty of Law of the State University of Moldova, being a professor. He also was the Head of the Private Law Department. He has also a PhD in law.

Previously he was an attorney, the president of the Disciplinary College of Judges and a member of the Scientific Advisory Council of the Supreme Court of Justice. Mr Nicolae Roșca is the author and co-author of over 75 didactic and scientific publications, including textbooks, monographs and commentaries on laws.

We remind you that on 23 April 2023, the 3-year term for which Mrs Domnica Manole was elected as President of the Constitutional Court expired.
