Ph.D Students of the ASEM and USPEE Doctoral School Attended a Round Table at the Constitutional Court of Moldova

On Tuesday, 29 May 2017, a group of Ph.D students of the Doctoral School of the Academy of Economic Studies of Moldova (ASEM) and the University of Political and Economic European Studies “Constantin Stere” (USPEE) attended a Round Table organised at the Constitutional Court (CCM) on ”The New Trends in the Development of Constitutional Doctrine.”

Round table participants were given presentations on the powers CCM has and on the European dimension of constitutional caselaw of the Republic of Moldova and the new trends in this field.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Veaceslav Zaporojan, a judge of CCM, gave a presentation on the organizational chart and the work of CCM within the European model of its functioning, as well as the new trends in the caselaw of CCM for 2016.

The Ph.D students learned more about the European dimension of the activity CCM is undertaking from the former Judge of the Constitutional Court of Lithuania, the Key Expert of the EU-funded project “Support to the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Moldova,” Prof. Dr. Toma Birmontienė. The Professor presented a comparative analysis of the constitutional caselaw of the courts in the European Union and of the CCM and underlined the similar nature of the CCM activity with the activity of European Constitutional Courts.

The event was organised with the support of the EU-funded project “Support to the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Moldova.”
