The Constitutional Court of Moldova (CCM) became a beneficiary of the project "Assistance to the Constitutional Courts of Georgia, Republic of Moldova, and Ukraine in Ensuring the Implementation and Protection of the Principles of the Rule of Law." The project is financed by the Development Cooperation and Democracy Promotion Programme of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania and is implemented by the Constitutional Court of Lithuania.

The purpose of this project is to strengthen the role of CCM and CC of Georgia and Ukraine in ensuring the implementation and protection of the fundamental principles of the rule of law. This is to be achieved by sharing good practice and relevant experience with the representatives of these Constitutional Courts. At the same time, preconditions will be created for these countries to contribute to the introduction and consolidation of the fundamental principles of democracy in the Eastern Partnership region of the European Union.

As Moldova, Georgia and Ukraine are currently implementing important and complex reforms matching the course of European integration, the need of the constitutional courts of these countries to cooperate more actively in the area of the implementation and protection of the principles of the rule of law provided the main incentive to carry out such a project. In the course of implementing the project, a forum of the judges of the Constitutional Courts of Georgia, Lithuania, Moldova, and Ukraine will be held to discuss problems arising for the constitutional justice institutions of the partner countries in ensuring compliance with the principles of the rule of law, to introduce the relevant experience of Lithuania and other partner countries, and to discuss the possible solutions to problematic issues. A joint publication of the participants of the project will be published, focussing on the issues concerning the implementation and protection of the principles of the rule of law.
