The Delegation of the Constitutional Court of Moldova Visited the Supreme Court of Lithuania and the District Court of Druskininkai City of Lithuania

From 5 to 6 April 2017, an official delegation of the Constitutional Court of Moldova had a meeting with the President and judges of the Supreme Court of Lithuania and carried out a visit to the District Court of Druskininkai City.

The President of the Supreme Court, Mr Rimvydas Norkus and the judges of the Court presented the work, the powers and the challenges faced by the Supreme Court of Lithuania.

There were also discussed issues related to the process of examining the cases pending before the Court, streamlining the jurisprudence, as well as related to the appointment of judges.

The President Alexandru Tănase and the judges of the Constitutional Court of Moldova underlined the importance of cooperation between the Constitutional Court of Moldova and the Supreme Court of Lithuania.

The delegation also had the opportunity to visit the District Court of Druskininkai City of Lithuania. The President of the Court, Mr Antanas Šeštokas, made a presentation of the work, structure and powers of the institution.

Within the discussions, Mr Alexandru Tănase, approached the peculiarities and similarities between the reorganisation of judicial systems of Moldova and Lithuania, as well as the influence of the reorganisation on justice.

The visit was carried out within the objectives of the EU Project ”Support for the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Moldova.”
