Secretary General of the Constitutional Court Had Presented in Parliament the Deficiencies Found by the Court in Electoral Legislation
On Friday, 31 March 2017, the Secretary General of the Constitutional Court of Moldova, Rodica Secrieru, attended public debates on electoral legislation, which were carried out by Parliament.
Within the debates, the Secretary General of the Court presented the recommendations provided by the 6 Addresses of the Court, issued within the Decision of the Court on validating the presidential elections of 2016.
On this occasion, there were brought again to the attention of the public the recommendations of the Court, that were communicated to Parliament, on the amendments needed to the electoral legislation on such issues as: examination of contestations on the way elections are organised and conducted, changing the mechanism of voting abroad, measures providing for criminal sanctions for bribing voters within presidential elections, as well as ensuring a balanced informational and media environment within the electoral elections.
Discussion were also attended by MPs, representatives of parliamentary and extra-parliamentary political parties, public authorities, as well as representatives of civil society.
