Europe Day at the Constitutional Court of Moldova - Marked By a Visit of Law Students
On 11 May 2017, the Constitutional Court of Moldova (CCM) has marked the Europe Day and hosted a numerous group of law students, who were given presentations on the activity of CCM and its implications in advancing the democratic European values in the Republic of Moldova.
Thus, the law students of the State University of Moldova and of the University of Political and Economic European Studies ”Constantin Stere” were greeted by the President of CCM, Alexandru Tănase, who made a presentation of the powers of the Court and most important cases of the CCM.
The students also were given a presentation by the Asistant Judge in Chief - Mrs Rodica Secrieru on the procedure of examining the applications before the Court, the available informational resources in the library of the Court and on the online free database CCDOC, the possibility to attend the annual contest „Constantin Stere,” as well as the opportunity the citizens have to watch live the sittings of the Court broadcasted on its website.
The former judge of the Constitutional Court of Lithuania, who is an expert of the European Union project ”Support for the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Moldova,” Prof. Dr. Toma Birmontienė presented a comparative analysis of the activity of CCM and that of the Constitutional Court of Lithuania and underscored the European dimension of the activity that CCM is performing.
Finally, the future lawyers had the opportunity to address questions on the activity of CCM and its impact on following the European path by the Republic of Moldova.
